Pip and Pap Phonics Workshops Y2:

A big thank you to all Year 2 parents that came along to our Pip and Pap Phonics workshop!

Children shared the Green Phase reading book "The Hawk," recapping the grapheme-phoneme correspondences /oy/ /ir/ /ue/ and /aw/ and reading the story with expression and fluency. In this story, a hawk snatches the Queen's crown! Luckily, Kom the cop and his partner Lor are around to save the day!

The children then sounded out and blended words in the story, including 'royal', 'employee', 'value', 'claws', 'first', 'blue', 'annoy', and 'pursue'! They answered questions about the story, focusing on retrieval, inference, vocabulary, prediction and sequencing skills.

Then, parents and pupils made their own hawks together with craft materials! Aren't they fantastic?!

We run Pip and Pap workshops in Years R-2 every other week at Mansel Park - please ask your child's teacher or the office for more details.
