Parent and Child Workshop - Year 1

Parents and pupils in Year 1 enjoyed a fun phonics workshop together today, reading Pink Phase Book "The Farm Garden" together.

Pupils recapped the grapheme - phoneme correspondences /ar/ /or/ /ur/ and 'er', in words such as "cart," "scorching", "turnip," "herbs" and "planter." They read the story to their parents and answered questions about what they had read.

In this book, Orb digs up vegetables he has planted on his farm, and has them for dinner!

Parents and pupils talked about the fun of gardening and how important it is to get your 5-a-day!

Parents and pupils then created their own little signs for planting in their own gardens or indoor pots - aren't they fabulous?

Remember, we run phonics workshops every other week in years R to 2 - all are welcome!
