Year 6 visit to Price Waterhouse-Coopers.

Over the course of last week, children from year 6 visited the offices of Price Waterhouse-Coopers. The children learnt about the different services the company offers and they were amazed to discover that they work with other large companies and some professional football clubs such as AFC Bournemouth.

The children were taken on a live tour around the different offices and they were able to sit in the different meeting areas.

During the afternoon, children were set a challenge to see if they could take a budget and spend it correctly. They had to buy different items from a list and make the budget last the course of a week. Children found that budgeting was difficult! Some children spent all of their budget early in the week and others found they couldn’t buy the things they wanted. However, an important lesson in saving money and budgeting was learnt by all.

The children learnt lots of different skills throughout the day. They discussed different transferable skills such as; communication, listening, problem-solving, teamwork, ingenuity and concentration. It was great to see the children really engaging with the staff at PWC and they asked lots of good questions. Year 6 were blown away by the modern feel to the building and many of them felt they would like to work in a similar environment one day.

All children represented the school impeccably and they were all a credit to Mansel Park.
