COOKING ON A BUDGET BLOG

Sure Start Children’s Centres

Southampton

On Friday 24th February 2023, we held our very first ‘Cooking on a Budget’ parenting course led by two lovely ladies from our local Sure Start, Sharon and Nicola.

Five families attended and worked together to prepare and cook a meal to take home and eat with their family.

Week 1 centred on store cupboard items cooked alongside added fresh vegetables. Lovely smells emulated from the Breakfast/Cookery Room and we had many jealous staff!

The parents produced two different meals ‘Corn Beef Hash’ with fresh vegetables and ‘Curried Vegetable and Bean Pie’ with potato or butternut squash topping.

In Week 5 children are joining their parents to make fresh pizzas and then will eat together.

If you would be interested in our next 5 week ‘Cooking on a Budget’ course in the summer term, please do speak with a member of our Office team who would be very happy to share more details with you and add your name to our ever growing waiting list!

We look forward to working with you!
