Welcome back to the Year 3 blog!
Welcome back to the Year 3 blog!
We have settled back into school life and are enjoying being back in our school routine. We are so excited about our new topics for this term and have enjoyed learning about them so far.
Boggis, Bunce and Bean – Have you ever heard of these evil, menacing farmers? Well, you’re lucky if you haven’t! Last week, we met these mean farmers who were after Fantastic Mr Fox. Next week, we are writing about our own horrid farmers who are incredibly greedy, disgustingly lazy and don’t even care about their own animals!
Meanwhile in maths, we have been recapping our year 2 knowledge of place value. We have revisited our knowledge of 2-digit numbers and have begun to apply this to understanding 3-digit numbers. We have also enjoyed exploring bar models within our problem solving lessons and enjoyed the practical element of this.
Did you know Rocks ROCK? Last week in science, we discovered how fun learning about rocks can be! We learned that there are 3 different types of rocks (metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary) and explored how these are formed. We really enjoyed becoming scientists when we used starburst sweets to replicate this process and understand the difference between each type of rock.
We wanted to share some of our learning from science with you, so take a look at the pictures below of us exploring rocks so far:
