In Year 1, each class enthusiastically took on the role of litter pickers to ensure our school grounds remain pristine and litter-free. They not only embraced the task but also revealed in using specialised litter-picking equipment, making it an enjoyable and impactful experience for them.

Year 2 embarked on a mission to rejuvenate our bug hotel, utilising the toilet roll tubes generously contributed by students from all across the school. These tubes were creatively stuffed with sticks and grass, transforming the bug hotel into a safe, cos, and inviting haven for a diverse array of mini-beasts.

Meanwhile, Year 4 proudly initiated a composting program with dedicated "compost monitors" who diligently oversee the disposal of fruit cores and peelings onto our compost heap after snack time. Elior, Jude, and Amiyah (KS1) Paige and Jessica (LKS2) and Dylan and Mia-Rose (UKS2) were elected as responsible stewards of this vital task.

Our green thumbs in the school garden have been busy, as we celebrated yet another successful harvest last week. Abundant courgettes, radishes, pumpkins, parsnips, beans, and celery filled our baskets. We also took care of the environment by composting plants that had completed their season and expertly weeded the beds. Excitingly, we've planted new seeds, including lettuce, radish, broccoli, and endive, which have already begun to sprout, promising a captivating growth journey ahead. Additionally, we meticulously organised all our seeds by the months they should be planted, ensuring a well-coordinated gardening experience.

Last week, we fostered collaboration by hosting a joint meeting with the school council committee. During this productive session, we openly shared our action plans and aspirations for the upcoming school year, aiming to enhance our school environment and experiences. This collaboration promises a year filled with exciting initiatives that we'll implement together, fostering positive change throughout our school community.
