Year 2 Parent & Child Phonics Workshop:

Year 2 parents and pupils took part in a Pip and Pap Phonics workshop together, reading Purple Phase Book 22 "The Circus."

They recapped the grapheme-phoneme correspondences:

'le' making the sound /l/, in words like: hustle and bustle

'sc' making the sound /s/, in words like: ascend and fascinate

'ce' making the sound /s/, in words like: entrance and appearance

've' making the sound /v/, in words like: heave and leave

'eigh' making the sound /ai/, in words like: weights and eight

After answering questions about the story and discussing it together, children and parents made their own 'trapeze artists' using lollipop sticks and decorations for their own 'big top tent'!
