Year 6 blog - day 4

After breakfast we began to think about packing the bits we could in preparation for our departure tomorrow. Rooms were inspected by the centre staff and there was anguish on many faces as the scores were announced.

This morning's activity was onsite, as we took on the assault course and tunneling challenges. The children had to help each other navigate their way across the course, up and over walls and down a zip-line. In the tunnels, children were faced with many of their fears such as; total darkness and cramped spaces. They all showed amazing resilience and conquered their fears.

After lunch, we took part in our final water based activity - kayaking. We loaded up the minibuses and made our way back into the local town. The sun shone on us as we worked in pairs to steer and propel the kayak's. The children had fun playing different games and some kayaks' even capsized! It was all smiles though as we scrambled back up the bank at the end of the session and headed back for dinner.

Tonight we enjoyed a BBQ. We loved tucking into burgers, hot-dogs and chicken drumsticks: dessert was a delicious chocolate muffin.

As we prepare for our departure tomorrow, we reflect on what has been a fantastic week. We've achieved new skills, we've conquered fears, we've tried new things but most of all we've had an unforgettable experience and one that all the children and staff will cherish forever. The children's behaviour has been respectful and polite and they have represented themselves, the school and their parents in the most impeccable way.

We are very proud of all of them.

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow and to share our fond memories of the week.
