Year R - Teddy Bear Hospital

In Year R last week, we had some very exciting visitors! The Teddy Bear Hospital came into school! Our teddy bears also came into school to visit our Teddy Bear hospital.

To help us understand how to keep our teddies safe and healthy, we all took part in three exciting activities. We learnt how to use a stethoscope, understand what a blood pressure monitor was for and how to use a torch to check our teddies’ eyes.

When looking at the stethoscope Teddy C said, “That’s to check your heart.” The hospital staff also taught us the names of different body parts, and where they live in our bodies.

We learned new vocabulary, such as: bones, kidneys, lungs, brain and stomach.

Emily said: “Lungs help them to breathe.”

Jesse said, “We have bones in our legs.”

We then discussed how to keep our teddies healthy, by selecting healthy foods for them to eat. We discussed different fruits and vegetables.

We also had a birthday party for our class teddy bears, as they all turned 5 today! What a lovely week we have had. We are very proud of our Early Years ‘doctors’!
