Year 6

Year 6 have been busy once again this half-term.

In maths, we have been studying fractions and the different ways in which questions will be presented using the four operations. We have had to use our times table knowledge to help us find common factors and multiples for when we need to convert fractions. We have used our understanding of division to help us convert fractions from improper to mixed numbers and we have used our adding and subtracting skills to add and subtract unlike fractions.

In reading, we have been reading a story by Morris Glietzman called, 'Once'. This story is about a young boy named Felix who is being hidden from Nazi soldiers during world war 2. Felix befriends a girl named Zelda, and together they go on a big adventure.

In writing, we have been creating a 'BE THE BEST' style text. We had to choose a personality trait that resonated with us and then conduct our own research into the trait. We chose two famous people that represented our trait and we researched different quotes to use in our final piece. Here are some examples:
