Year 5 - Making a splash!

This half term, Year 5 enjoyed participating in swimming lessons at Oaklands Community Pool as part of the P.E National Curriculum. The children were grouped to ensure that they received personalised lessons from the skilled swimming coaches. These sessions were designed not only to improve their swimming skills but also to promote water safety and build confidence when in the water. The children enjoyed the structured lessons, which included various swimming strokes, floating techniques and fun water games as well as a session on lifeguard training during which each child built their knowledge on vital water safety skills, fostering confidence and responsibility while preparing them to respond effectively in emergency situations. The experience was both educational and fun for all, with many children expressing newfound enthusiasm for swimming and a sense of achievement as they mastered/ deepened new techniques.
