Year 2 blog

Writing

This week in year 2, we have been reading George's Marvellous medicine, focusing on George’s evil, nasty Grandma. Just like Roald Dahl, we have been coming up with lots of different ways that we can show that Grandma is evil. We have been doing this by using different nouns, adjectives and verbs. We are doing this so that we can write a character description of Grandma. We hope you don’t ever meet a Grandma like George’s!

Maths

This half term we have been learning about money, focusing on what British coins we have. This week we have been learning how to count different amounts of money using our knowledge of tens and ones to help us.

Science

In Science, we have been exploring lots of different habitats around the world. We have looked at the ocean, the rainforest, the desert and the polar regions. We have learnt so many great facts about how animals have adapted so that they can survive. Our favourite fact is that polar bears have a layer of fat to keep themselves warm which is called blubber.

Music

Because Christmas is coming up , we have been practising lots of songs ready for our Christmas performance. We have been working hard on the pitch when we are singing and having the right posture so that we can project our voices. Our singing assemblies have also been helping us with this. We are really looking forward to performing!
