Year 4 swimming

Mansel Park’s Year 4 breaststroke brilliance wowed the Oakland crowd as they completed their annual swimming week! Year 4’s swimming week held on 28th November at Oaklands Community Pool, involved pupils developing their confidence in the water and ability to swim effectively over varying distances. The Swimming week was extremely successful with all pupils learning how to be safe in water and how to enjoy being in a pool, emphasising that anyone can take-up swimming. What was especially noticeable throughout the week was how supportive everyone was with each other, with confident pupils coaching and motivating those who required a little more support from the side of the pool.

The week showed all staff how surprisingly popular this water-based sport is at Mansel Park, despite initial worries for first time swimmers,, ensuring participation and fun for all. In addition to the overall increase of participants who are now able to swim, the more experienced swimmers throughout the week, of which many have represented their local clubs, showed first-time competitors how far you can take swimming whilst at school and that sports in water are varied and skilful! We would also like to pass our massive thank you to the coaches at Oaklands who have helped us enjoy the water safely. We hope that following this event, our local pools will see even more pupils take to the pool with their families. We cannot wait to hear about the fun they have and their ever-growing confidence! Well done Year 4!
