Getting to school:

This October, our school is excited to take part in Walktober—a special month, promoted by the Southampton City Council Active Travel team, that encourages everyone to get moving by walking, scooting or wheeling to school. Not only will this make all of our journeys to school safer, it is a great way to keep active and help to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet as an Eco school! With the darker winter months coming up it is great to be reminded of safe travel and how we can Be Bright and Be Seen. This was delivered in an assembly on Monday (16th September) and Tuesday (17th September) that all the children had with  Rachel Oliver, Southampton's Sustainable Transport Officer.

Each day we will log how we travelled to school and throughout the month there will be some great activities to do with safe travel. There will also be competitions between Mansel Park and other schools for brilliant prizes!

We cannot wait to see everyone using different forms of active travel to get to school. We want everyone to enjoy the fun of Walktober as the days start to get shorter and a cool breeze fills the air.

Let’s all remember to Be Bright, Be Seen on our journeys to school.
