Year R Pip and Pap:

Year R have been enjoying studying our 'Rainbow Phase' Phonics this week, introducing pupils to the world of Pip and Pap and focusing on developing their phonological and phonemic awareness skills!

They read "Sand and Sea with Pip and Pap" together, looking at the familiar sights on the beach and talking about what they could see! They practised tongue twisters, such as "A sailor went to sea-sea-sea to see what he could see-see-see!" and sang sea shanties and songs about the seaside - all great practise for their phonics lessons next week, where they will be introduced to reading and writing the letter-sound correspondence /s/!
