Year 1 learning blog – 17th March

Writing

Watch out! There is a monster on the loose! Year 1 have been visited by a surprise guest who has wrecked our school! We have been creating Wanted Posters for the mysterious visitor. Year 1 have been using all their creative toolkit they have learnt to help create the best description possible to catch the beast! Have you seen him? He has sharp, purple prickles on his back. Giant, orange eyes, long, pointy claws and a poisonous wart!

Topic

Year 1 have loved learning all about Grace Darling and her heroic actions! We have retold the story of Grace Darling through role play and sequencing on pictures. We then have looked at why she is so important and famous. We looked at lifeboats when Grace was alive and compared them to the lifeboats we have now and why they are safer today and how this can help guards to be efficient!

Science

In Science this term we have been looking at different animal types and their diets. We learnt the key words Carnivore, Herbivore and Omnivore and which animals had which diet. We even explored different animal’s lunchboxes and decided what type of diet they had! Within Science learning we have been looking after tadpoles and watching them grow into frogs! It has been so exciting watching them!
