The Youth Group

ear 2 parents and pupils have had a blast in today's Pip and Pap Phonics workshop, reading the Purple Phase story "The Youth Group" together, where Pip, Pap and friends go ten-pin bowling!

This story focuses on recapping alternative pronunciations for:

/oa/ spelt 'ow' as in bowling

/ee/ spelt 'ie' as in alien

/e/ spelt 'ea' as in bread

/oo/ spelt 'ou' as in group

/igh/ spelt 'y' as in sky

/i/ spelt 'y' as in crystal

/ee/ spelt 'y' as in funny

/s/ spelt 'c' as in central

/j/ spelt 'g' as in danger

/ai/ spelt 'ey' as in grey

After reading the story, parents and pupils created their own bowling game, using water bottles. Children were able to take their bottles home to share the game with their family.
