Year R blog:
This week in Year R we have been very busy getting back into our routines. In phonics we have been recapping our orange sounds and learning some of the pink phase sounds too! In guided reading we have been continuing to practice our blending using Pip and Pap books, as well as reading stories by our author of the term - Jill Murphy. We have been particularly focussed on her book called 'A piece of cake'. This supports our writing and PSED lessons, where we have been learning all about healthy foods - so that we can write an invitation for a healthy tea party. We have spent time looking at invitations to see what we will need to write on our invitation and then using our phonics knowledge to write these. In maths we have been learning all about time - we have explored this by thinking about key times of the day such as 'morning', 'afternoon', 'evening' and 'night time' and then thinking about what activities we do at these times of the day. We have also explored clocks and begun learning 'o'clock' and 'half past'. In science we have been learning all about floating and sinking, we have tested out different objects and then discussed why some of them float and some of them sink.
