Year 1 Update.
Welcome to Ye-aarrr 1!
We have had a wonderful few weeks settling into Year 1! Our writing topic has been Pirate themed which we really enjoyed! We were able to dress up as pirates and explore what pirates do, how they act and behave! We also learnt what an adjective is... and our top secret superhero name for them is… WOW words! We then wrote some amazing character descriptions based on different pirates. In our writing we had to make sure that we included our capital letters, finger spaces and full stops!
In Maths we have been working on our careful counting. We have been counting objects up to 20 and representing them in different ways. You can ask us how to represent them in a bar model, tens frame and with counters! We are incredibly skilled at demonstrating number representation! We have now been learning how to find one more and one less of different items. We have learnt lots of different strategies such as: drawing, tens frames, number line and crossing out. During Science we have been exploring our bodies and how we use our senses. We have found out that we use our eyes for seeing, tongue for tasting and nose for smelling! We then used our senses to go on an Autumn walk whilst looking at the crunchy leaves, shiny conkers and the muddy field! We’ve really enjoyed all the excitement that Autumn is bringing us!
