Year 1 Pip and Pap Phonics Workshop

Year 1 enjoyed a Pip and Pap Phonics Workshop with their parents, reading Pink Phase Book 26 "The Power Cut!"

In this story, they revised the grapheme-phoneme correspondences:

/ow/ - in words such as 'power'

/oi/ - in words such as 'avoid'

/ear/- in words such as 'near'

/air/- in words such as 'pair'

/ure/- in words such as 'pure'

Children read the story to their parents and answered questions about what they had read. They then talked about what to do in event of a power cut at home! Parents and pupils then created their own 'split pin' torch pictures - aren't they fabulous?
