Year 2 blog:

In writing this half term, we have been busy designing and writing recipes to help George from ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ create his dream Grandma. We thought about all of the lovely ingredients we could add in to make her kinder. We will be sending our recipes off to George so hopefully they work!

In Maths, we have been learning all about place value. We have enjoyed using place value counters, base tens and numicon to represent numbers up to 100. We have also played lots of games to help us to count forwards and backwards to 100. Our next challenge will be counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

So far in science, Year 2 have been carrying out science experiments. We have been thinking about all the different skills we need in order to be amazing scientists. This week we carried out an experiment called ‘dancing rice’.  We mixed water, bicarbonate of soda, rice and vinegar together. We then used our observation skills to watch as the liquid fizzed and the rice began to bounce.
