D-Day Assembly blog:

80th Anniversary of D. Day 6.6.1944 Assembly

Today, all the children came together for a special assembly to explain what D-Day is and its importance during World War 2. Children in year 6 investigated the timeline of the morning of June 6th and then explained it to the children. It was very powerful when two other children shared poems that they wrote and explained the emotions that the soldiers would have been feeling. The children also spoke about the sacrifice and courage that all of the people and families would have had to make at that time as well as what a big turning point it was in the war.

Finally, the assembly ended with a reflection allowing children time to absorb all the information they had been given. This was a very powerful assembly and one that the children will hopefully remember for a long time.
