Tri Golf:

TRI GOLF TOURNAMENT – WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY 2024

What is Tri Golf?  Tri-Golf is a fun and energetic version of golf that is perfect for Primary Schools and young aspiring golfers as they hit targets with their first golf shots using plastic clubs and softer balls.

Tri-Golf promotes ‘Skills for Life’ attributes including co-operation, good sportsmanship and concentration and is designed to be used across curriculum learning. It is being used by several Golf Clubs across the UK to help teach young players the aspects of the game, and how sport can be positive in their lives.

Four excited children, accompanied by Miss Gale, left Mansel Park Primary & Nursery School on a sunny Wednesday afternoon to make their way to Southampton Municipal Golf Course for a Tri Golf Tournament. They were joined by 4 other schools including Sinclair Primary & Nursery School and Holy Family Catholic Primary School, who are part our Partnership of schools.

Several skills activities were laid out on the putting green and led by pupils from Bitterne Park Secondary School. The children played 4 games including Dominoes, Finders Keepers, Tunnel Ball and Zone Ball all of which needed our children to focus on their hand eye co-ordination and concentration using their putter club, as well as promoting good team work and healthy competition. The Secondary pupils were really friendly and supported our children in learning the new skills being taught.

The final part of the afternoon we were moved to a larger grass area where further activities were set up.  This time focusing on using a chipper club and brushing the ground to get the ball into the air so it can travel a further distance.  This was tricky but the children never gave up!

The children made us very proud by displaying excellent manners, positive behaviour and amazing resilience – they were great ambassadors for their school!
