Year 1 blog:

Year 1 have had a super start to this academic year!

We began this term with a special note from a pirate who left their treasure in our very capable hands! We looked closely at the features of a pirate and learned new vocabulary such as cutlass and telescope. To help us embed this, we transformed ourselves into pirates and imagined what life as a pirate would be like!

In maths, our teachers needed help sorting objects in the classroom! We learned that we can sort items in various ways, including by size, shape and colour. Next we practiced our counting skills by counting objects and pictures, we also had to think carefully about our number formation when writing the amount.

Year 1 also spent time reading The Colour Monster with their teachers. We discussed our feelings and what made us feel a certain way. We also thought about how school made us feel and coloured our own colour monster to help us show this!

We are so pleased at how year 1 have settled and they are continuing to make us proud with their excitement for learning! Well done year 1!
